Grand National 09
Grand National 09 – A Gift of the Spirit
If you take an example of a world class horse racing event such as the Grand National 09 and research the meaning of the number 9 then Gift of the Spirit or Fruits of the Spirit is revealed as one of the meanings from the bible. How fascinating to think how apt this 2009 Grand National. The incredible spirit the founders of this horse race showed when designing the race course at Aintree and how it would be run.
This year the Grand National is under debate whether such sporting events will be broadcast on main stream television i.e. the general public get to watch Grand National 09 for free. Other sporting greats are also under threat – Wimbledon is just one of them. It is almost unimaginable that the Grand National wouldn’t be seen on those televisions who weren’t subscribed to Sky.
One of the main problems with subtracting horse racing events such as the Grand National means that you are in threat of losing your cultural identity. Our culture helps us to identify who we are, where we came from – our values and norms. The way we speak about events helps us to identify who we are. If this is only broadcast to a minimum amount of people then the great spirit of Grand National will be lost to millions of people. How can we let this happen, is this not making sure the elite get to see what others cannot?
Make them hear your voice to make sure the Grand National this year in 2009 and for many years to come remains available to everyone,
• Keep yourself informed about what is going on in your community and country so you can be proactive and take action to stop this from happening
• Look out for any petitions you may see, possibly at the Grand National , around Merseyside and possible other horse racing events
• Write a letter to your local media journalist telling them about your concerns if we lose the top sporting events, it is what brings people, families and the community together, it gives everyone the feel good factor. If you are speaking to employers tell them this impacts on productivity – making them more money.
Keep the spirit of the Grand National alive, without the Grand National and everyone celebrating with the Grand National 09 winner we lose the feel good factor, we lose a sense of our identity to celebrate good times, the Grand National at Aintree is precious – no one can afford to lose it from their screens.
